Patty Elkins, EMT/Community Liaison of Lyle Fire & Rescue Dist. 4, announced the news through the Lyle Washington Community Facebook page, announcing the delivery. She also shared a video and several photos of the new vehicle for the community to see. According to Elkins, as of the morning of the announcement, the fundraising efforts were at 72% of their $55,000 goal.

"We are still grateful for any further donations we receive from anybody in the community," she added.

For those unfamiliar, the "Lose the Loan" initiative aimed to raise funds for the purchase of a new water tender. Their goal was to mitigate any potential financial burden by proactively covering the costs. Given the critical role water tenders play in firefighting operations - especially in areas with limited water sources - this acquisition is crucial for the district's emergency response capabilities.

In honor of this achievement and as a gesture of gratitude, Lyle Fire & Rescue is planning a community celebration.

"We will be introducing Lyle to our new tender, which they helped us purchase, and recognizing all of our volunteer members of our fire department," Elkins said.

The date for this community gathering is yet to be finalized, with decisions likely to be made in the upcoming Commissioners business meeting.
