MCCAC to Hold Grand Opening of The Gloria Center

The Dalles, Ore, May 28, 2024 – Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC) is pleased to announce the grand opening of The Gloria Center, a one-stop multi-agency supportive services center located in The Dalles The formal grand opening event will take place at 11am on Friday, May 31st at 2505 W. 7th St. in The Dalles. 

The Gloria Center will serve the community as a one-stop resource hub that works towards eliminating poverty and houselessness in the Mid-Columbia Region. Services being offered at the Center include housing assistance, homelessness prevention, case management, Veterans services, utility assistance, home weatherization, physical health, behavioral health, Native and Latinx specific services. The Center will also serve as a Community Resiliency Center in the event of a natural disaster and/or power grid outage, thanks to a solar energy resiliency grant from the Oregon Department of Energy. Additionally, MCCAC will operate a 36-bed , severe weather shelter on the site. The agencies that will be housed at the Center include MCCAC, the Mid-Columbia Center for Living, One Community Health, the Oregon Human Development Corporation, Nch’I Wana Housing, the Department of Human Services, the Columbia Gorge Health Council and its Bridges to Health Pathways program.

“The grand opening of The Gloria Center is a culmination of years of collaborative planning among core community partners,” MCCAC Executive Director, Kenny LaPoint said. “We are honored to be the lead on this wonderful, innovative community project that provides ease of access to services through a coordinated, one-stop service model.” 

Thanks to the funding and support from many community partners, our wonderful construction and project development team and our many volunteers, The Gloria Center is now ready to serve our community. Project funders include the Oregon Legislature, Oregon Housing and Community 

Services, the Oregon Health Authority, the Oregon Department of Energy, Wasco County, the City of The Dalles, the Ford Family Foundation, Google Tides Foundation, the Columbia Gorge Health Council, the Oregon Human Development Corporation and the Mid-Columbia Center for Living.

The May 31st event will include speakers from many of the project funders and partners with the main highlight being the official grand opening and ribbon cutting for The Gloria Center. Immediately following the program, there will be tours available of the Gloria Center site.
