Mid-Columbia Economic Development District (MCEDD) will be hosting the 2020 Columbia Gorge Economic Symposium virtually on Friday, November 6. Considering recent impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic on our regional economy and community, this year’s event will focus on economic and employment trends, as well as the road ahead for recovery and resilience.

To kick off the Symposium, Anne Kubisch, President of the Ford Family Foundation, will be presenting the keynote address on resiliency. Following presentations will include Oregon and Washington economists sharing state, regional and local data and forecasts.

The Symposium will close with a panel discussion on the future of key regional industries with leaders in healthcare, renewable energy, high-tech, agriculture, forest products, and manufacturing.

This event will shed light on what actions industries in the Gorge are taking to adapt to the current pandemic and how they are preparing for an uncertain future.

The Symposium will also help kickoff MCEDD’s major update for the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, to be adopted in early 2022. This year’s event will be virtual and free for all to attend. Everyone is welcome to join the Symposium on Friday, November 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. via Zoom. Register for the event or find more information at www.mcedd.org/symposium.
