Montira's Thai Cuisine in TD: 'Closed We Will Miss You'

By Tom Peterson

Montira’s Thai Cuisine at 302 W. Second Street in The Dalles is currently closed due to labor shortages, according to its owners.

“We’re closed for now. We just don’t have the people to work,” said owner Ken Sommerfelt this afternoon, Feb. 13. Sommerfelt was unable to comment further on whether they would reopen.

Sommerfelt is married to the sensational cook herself  Montira, and her healthy food has been pleasing thousands for years here in The Dalles.

“I remember a time when the restaurant brought over several gallons of ice cream to us during a car wash for Riverside Gymnastics. We were in the parking lot across the street and the sun was beating down. Montira and Ken would not take a dime for it. Good People.” - From Tom Peterson

And who could forget this plug back in Oct. of 2020. Good food, good humor.
