Your Guide to the Northwest MuralFest Aug 24th-28th

The Northwest Mural Fest will take place this week from August 24th-28th, 2022! Here’s everything you need to know.

1. Mural creation will begin Wed. evening August 24 and end Sun. August 28.

2. Parking will be affected near the Mural sites. Refer to the map for street and alley closures. Here is a map of the downtown street closures:

3. Equipment set up in preparation will begin a few days before that. Expect to see scissor lifts, scaffolding and ladders arrive at the Mural sites. Also porta-pottys, garbage containers, tents, tables etc. will be placed. 

4. The Dalles Civic Auditorium is the Headquarters for the distribution of supplies & information (4th street from Federal to Washington will be closed) 

5. Anyone is welcome to participate with the painting. They need to register at the Civic Auditorium. Or to sign up to volunteer, paint, donate or become a sponsor ahead of time visit the Northwest MuralFest website at www.northwestmuralfest.com.

6. A mini, hour long "how to paint” class will be held at the Civic on the 25th and 26th at 9 a.m.

7. WonderWorks Museum is sponsoring a family mural that will be for children and their families to paint. 

8. The Dalles Main Street will sponsor a Street Festival between 1st and 3rd street, August 25, 26 & 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with beer garden, music, vendors and car show. (see map for locations) 

9. On Saturday, August 27th at 7 p.m. there will be a “Paint the Night” Auction Gala at the Civic Auditorium (323 E 4th St.) in the upstairs ballroom to raise money for the future preservation of murals in The Dalles. The revenue will be used to create a fund to preserve the murals. Robust appetizers will be served, followed by a dessert auction. Live auction will feature artwork and artist personalized objects related to the MuralFest. Tickets are $30 and are available on EventBrite as well as Klindt's Bookstore (315 E 2nd St.) ACE Hardware (500 E 3rd) and the Civic.

“The Dalles is so lucky to have been chosen for the WallDog MuralFest event this year,” said The MuralFest Committee “It’s the first in the Northwest!”
