Stevenson, WA October 20, 2023 - The Columbia Gorge Museum is thrilled to present the extraordinary work of artist Christopher Pothier, whose award-winning contemporary paintings explore an insatiable fascination with the chaos of human nature. Utilizing his prowess with classical oil painting techniques, he employs modern imagery to tell stories.

Businessmen with briefcases wander dream-like plains, cowboy children lay waste to corporate agents, and ghostly gasmask-wearing figures in jumpsuits stare out at the viewer. These are the characters inhabiting his world. Bring Your Damn Checkbook will transport you to a dreamscape full of tongue-in-cheek humor and commentary on modern life! You have to see it.

Pothier is a nationally recognized and award-winning artist, teacher, and engaged member of the Columbia Gorge Community who has dedicated his life to creating art since he was 19. He graduated with a bachelor’s in fine arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst MA. After a year of working in construction, he threw down his hard hat picked up a brush, and decided to pursue his vision of painting full-time. He now utilizes his construction skills to create murals and plasterwork in addition to his painted works.

All are invited to the opening reception at the CGM Community Gallery on November 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Please consider staying the night in our beautiful city of Stevenson. There are many wonderful hotels from which to choose where you can take in the natural splendor of the Columbia River Gorge! RSVP is welcome but not required.

The Columbia Gorge Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Stevenson, WA. It is known for collections honoring the tribal communities from our region, past and present, the largest rosary collection, as well as art and artifacts from industry and families throughout our history.
