D21 News: Superintendent hiring; Chenowith Principal Resigns

The North Wasco County School District Board is scheduled to meet on Friday at 5:30 p.m. on whether to approve a negotiated contract and officially hire Dr. Carolyn Bernal.

The board will go into an executive session to consider Bernal’s employment and then return to a public meeting where a decision could be made.

Meetings - not including executive sessions - are broadcast live on the District’s Facebook page - North Wasco County School District 21.

The Board is also set to discuss the hiring of a construction manager and contact sports.

Chenowith Elementary Principal Resigns

A few weeks ago, Monica Darnall notified staff and parents at Chenowith Elementary that she would be resigning at the end of the year. Circumstances have changed. Due to personal reasons, Monica Darnall has submitted her resignation and will be returning to her home in Utah. For the next five months, she will provide the District with consultation services regarding specialized programs, including Dual Language instruction.

Effective immediately, Phil Williams, currently the vice-principal at The Dalles High School, will be stepping in as the principal at Chenowith Elementary for the remainder of this school year. He has over a decade of administrative experience at the elementary and secondary levels. We welcome Phil to Chenowith Elementary.
