One Fli Guy: Classic Trail ride includes a zip through Petersburg, Fairbanks
The Dalles, Ore., May 30, 2024 — Steve Stampfli of White Salmon was preparing his Honda Trail 125 for a nice circuit run around Wasco County this morning at The Dalles Aquatic Center.
The 71-year-old said he planned on hitting Petersburg and then riding along Old Moody Road ending up at Heritage Landing at Deschutes River State Recreation Area where it collides with the Columbia.
He will pass through Faribanks on his way. Fairbanks, Oregon, that is.
Looks like smooth sailing as temps are expected in the 70s this afternoon with wind gusts trailing off into the 20s. Friday is forecasted at 79 degrees and low wind, according to the National Weather Service.
Steve said he bought the bike several years ago, but you can track its styling back to the classic trail bikes that first began production in 1964. The motorcycles have been a workhorse and fun-getter for decades.
