The Dalles, OR, - The Dalles Wasco County Sheriff partnered with Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC) staff and volunteers and anonymous donors from the community to deliver some Christmas magic to two families in need on Wednesday December 21st.

An anonymous donor donated over $1,800 to the Sheriff’s office to purchase gifts for a family in need in the community.

“I was approached by a family that I’ve known for 30 plus years, and they said, hey, we’re not buying Christmas presents this year, and you know what, we’re gonna take the money that we have that we would have spent on Christmas presents and we’re gonna pool it  and we’re gonna give it to the Sheriff’s office because you guys don’t get a good enough rap, and we want you to be our Secret Santa,” said Wasco County Sheriff, Lane Magill.

The Sheriff’s office then got in contact with MCCAC to get connected to families in need. MCCAC, which has recently launched a Purposity giving platform to better meet client needs in the community, knew just the families to connect them too and had a list of their clients needs ready for the Sheriff’s office.

Both families, which now have housing were in need of some necessities such as dishes, towels, clothing mattresses, cleaning supplies, vacuums, as well as help purchasing Christmas gifts for their children.

Excited to have the opportunity to help those in need, Sheriff’s and MCCAC staff made the purchases and anxiously awaited delivery day.

When the day finally came, an excited caravan of Wasco County Sheriff's deputies, five MCCAC volunteers and CCCNews gathered to help bring a little holiday magic to two local families.
