Osby Vargas Signs with Southwestern Oregon Community College

The Dalles Ore., April 5, 2024 — The Dalles High School held a signing day ceremony for Senior Osby Vargas, on Thursday, May 30th, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the continuation of his education and his soccer career at Southwestern Oregon Community College.
When asked how it felt to be signed into the school Vargas said “It feels good. I’m grateful for this opportunity and open-minded to my next steps.”
Vargas said he’s looking forward to playing soccer and wants to study welding. He was an attacking midfielder with TDHS and was voted 2nd Team all Conference this school year.
When asked what he looked most forward to, Vargas said “I want to learn more about my career and focus more on soccer”
He finished by saying “You just got to keep moving forward and don’t stop. Always focus on your own business and dream big.”
Vargas’s family, including his mother Elizabeth, and brothers Orlando, Silvestre Jr., and Matiaz, along with his grandmother, Reyna Savcedo, all supported and celebrated Vargas’s accomplishments.
“I’m excited and joyful to watch my firstborn go to college,” said Vargas’s mother Elizabeth.
Friends, coaches, and teachers were also present to celebrate his accomplishments.
