The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 5, 2026 — Four local women are continuing their educational journeys with support from the P.E.O. Sisterhood after receiving a combined $7,000 in scholarships from P.E.O. Chapter EJ of The Dalles.

The 2026 scholarship recipients are Cadence Hoover, Jenny Loughmiller, Kilee Hoylman and Jenna Darfler. Each is pursuing educational and career goals that will allow them to serve their communities in the years ahead.

Hoover, a 2026 graduate of The Dalles High School, received the Chapter EJ Kimsey Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a graduating senior from The Dalles High School.

Jenny Loughmiller

Loughmiller, who is enrolled in the nursing program at Columbia Gorge Community College, received a P.E.O. Marguerite Scholarship. The scholarship provides grants to women for tuition and fees toward a degree, certificate, workshop, vocational or technical course, or other specialized training at the postsecondary level at an accredited institution in Oregon.

Kilee Hoylman

Hoylman, a nursing student at Oregon Health & Science University, and Darfler, who is pursuing a nursing degree at Columbia Gorge Community College, each received a P.E.O. Oregon Scholarship. The scholarship provides grants for tuition and fees to women pursuing degrees at accredited Oregon colleges or universities.

Together, the four women received $7,000 in educational scholarship funds.

The scholarships represent one of the central missions of the P.E.O. Sisterhood: helping women pursue educational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. P.E.O. is an international nonprofit organization focused on providing educational assistance and support to women.

P.E.O. Chapter EJ is one of two P.E.O. chapters in The Dalles and has been part of the community for generations.

For the scholarship recipients, the financial assistance is more than an award. It is an investment in their education, future careers and the communities they will ultimately serve.
