Port of Hood River Apologizes for Electronic Toll Billing Discrepancy
From the Port of Hood River:
Hood River, Ore., Dec. 11, 2024 — The Port of Hood River has corrected a technical issue in its electronic tolling system, BreezeBy, affecting customers' invoices for recent bridge crossings. In partnership with P-square, the Port's back-of-the-house software provider, the Port moved toll booth data from the administration building to a cloud server this fall. During this transition, a disruption in protocols caused a skipped invoicing period, leading to discrepancies in billing. These errors resulted in overdrawn accounts and the assessment of fines and fees. All crossings were correctly tracked, but incorrectly invoiced causing the issue.
"The Port apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this technical failure," said Kevin Greenwood, Port Executive Director. "P-square identified the problem and made corrections early Saturday morning."
P-square worked late into the night on December 7th to identify and correct the error. The Port has requested that P-square waive all fines, fees and insurance charges for all accounts over the past few weeks. Customers with overdrawn accounts will have an additional 30 days to pay for crossings during this period.
The Port appreciates the community's patience as our front office staff continues to address inquiries related to this matter.
