Powering Health Care With Steel & Welder
The Dalles Iron Works and Coburn Electric are helping health care workers at Mid-Columbia Medical Center (MCMC) plug in.
MCMC recently erected triage tents near the emergency door entrance at the hospital on 19th Street, The Dalles, to assist people during the Covid-19 outbreak.
“The tents are part of our Emergency Preparedness plan. If needed in the future, they will be used as triage stations to assess patients for needed care, just like many other hospitals around the country are doing,” according to the MCMC Facebook page.
But that requires some juice. Coburn Electric acquired a transformer for the tents and Jon Keyser and his team at The Dalles Iron Works has assembled the proper hardware, including rolling cart for mobility, to set it.
Iron Works has also been busy with several other projects, including stainless steel kitchen work for Casa El Miradors at the intersection of Weber and West 2nd. Keyser said owners Jorge and Lupe Barragan are getting the work done while dine-in services have been shuttered. Casa is still offering take-out seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 541-298-7388
Iron Works Crews also installed a new sawdust collection system in at Summit Cedar Reman, 134 Tidyman Road in Dallesport.
In their spare time, they built hard-to-find new round fryer baskets for Dinty’s Markets in The Dalles and Biggs Junction, owned by James Stroud.
