Back to the Gravel Pile
Employees with Pro Motions were back at it this morning, Tuesday, Sept. 7, in front of the Recreation building on Second Street downtown The Dalles. Gravel was brought in to backfill the new foundation wall that was recently poured near the front of the building.
Pro Motion’s Rolan Miller said they would also be putting the sheeting back up along the front of the building and then be back later to pour additional concrete after plumbing work is completed. Additional crews were also working on the second floor of the building this morning.
The work comes after an incredible Labor Day weekend, which brought temperatures in the high 80s and some incredible sunsets. With fall just 14 days in the distance, schools getting into high gear, and the holiday season around the corner, it feels like we’re on the bubble of a lot of planning and activity.
Even the flies are twice their normal size and twice as loud pronouncing the end of their reign.
But, alas, September’s grace is upon us like a warm bath with gentle breezes. And light is still our friend until 8 p.m. It’s truly a great time of year for evening hikes or walks or cool morning outings.
