This week's Question is: Na na na na na na na na na na na na na What is your favorite BATMAN movie?
Dennis Stocks, 72, born in California
My favorite Batman movies were the ones with Michael Keaton.
I have seen the new movie that’s playing now in theaters. I liked it. It’s a good storyline of vengeance. It takes place at night. There’s pretty dark backgrounds and stuff like that, but you can still distinguish everything, it’s good.
And favorite batman villain?
I would say the Joker.
Lucas Woods, 16, The Dalles
Ooo that’s a hard one. I got to say the Dark Knight with Christian Bale and Heath Ledger as the joker.
And why is it your favorite?
I don’t know. I just like the story and there’s just something about it. It’s just the best Batman in my opinion.
Brandon Bostick, 19, Dufur, OR
I think the new one is my new favorite because I always have like a criticism over Batman and how he’s kind of like a ‘beat ‘em up’ superhero, rich guy that beats up crime and kind of gets away with it. But this one digs into the character a bit more, and how he’s really just a very rich white guy and it’s very thought provoking.
I liked Robert Pattinson, even though he’s a little more emo than I’d like to see Batman, I guess? I think he’s good for the role though. Some moments in the movie reminded me of Twilight a little too much but I thought he did a great job. He’s probably my new favorite actor for Batman. It was pretty good.
They also did all the post production for the movie before they filmed. It. So you know how in movies they’ll film all the shots and then all the CGI people come in afterward? Well they did all the backgrounds and surroundings for the movie before shooting any scenes with the actors. So basically the actors are more immersed into the environment while they are acting. I guess they did the same thing with the Mandelorian. There’s a great video by Vox about it.
And what’s your favorite batman villain?"
The Joker is pretty cool. He’s just kind of typically the best. My favorite Joker actor was Heath Ledger, he’s pretty iconic. The more recent one, Joaquin Phoenix did a pretty good job too.
Keri Sutton, 46, The Dalles
I’m a big fan of Batman. I like the animated series.
We lived up in Alaska and I was at the pawn shop and I found 19 original tapes from the animated TV series in ‘93. That was probably the best Batman series ever.
But as far as the movies went I think the original with Michael Keaton because of the director and all the characters and the soundtrack. All the actors were perfect. They couldn’t have found a better guy to play the Penguin than Danny DeVito..
But the last Batman was garbage. It was bad.
And do you have a favorite Batman villain?
Oh it will always be the Joker. But I think my second choice would be Scarface.
Josh, 21, The Dalles
Probably the Dark Knight. Heath Ledger is my favorite actor.
Alicia 44, The Dalles and Chloe 11, The Dalles
“I’m not really sure. I like the Avengers,” says Alicia.
“You like the Flash,” she says looking at Chloe.
Chloe looks at the reporter and nods.
“I like your earring,” I say.
“I made it,” says Chloe.
“Very cool. It’s awesome! Are you going to see Batman today?” I ask her.
“Yeah.”
“Awesome. You’ve got a whole new franchise ahead of you!”
Mary Batty, retired, The Dalles
Dark Knight. That was my favorite one. I liked the action in it and I liked the actors.
I’ve seen all the batman movies that have come to this theater. So that’s why I came by. My son lives in Tennessee and he gets all these movies before we do.
So he’s like “You haven’t seen The Batman?!?”
And I said “It’s not here yet. It’s not here yet!”
So I thought I better come by and see what’s playing.
I like going to the movies. Even when covid was going on and they were closed I’d come by and support them and get the popcorn on Friday nights and drive home.
And I’ll be back for $6 Tuesday to see Batman.
