The Dalles, Ore., Feb. 15, 2024 — Flower Power was on overdrive on Wednesday, Feb. 14 as local vendors raced to keep pace with what appears to be an epic year for love.

Claudia Leash at Sigman’s Flowers sent their delivery drivers on some 275 different missions to bring smiles and fill hearts.

The flower shop was buzzing with all hands on deck on Valentine’s Day. Leash’s daughter Taunie joined the crew of about a dozen as Cupid let loose a flurry of arrows akin to a Roman Archer cohort.

“In past years I have been able to get people to spread their flower deliveries over two or three days, but this year everybody wanted it delivered on Valentine’s Day,” Claudia said.

Roses were the most popular item in her shop, followed by bouquets, then chocolate and decorative plants.

Word has it that the Kindergarten class of 2030 could double.
