Hunt for Ancestry on Riverfront Trail
Sativa Cloud, 17, of Seattle by way of Yakama and Mich Hunt, 69, of The Dalles took a ride along Riverfront Trail this morning, Wednesday, March 16.
It was not just for the exercise.
Sativa is Mick’s granddaughter, and he took the time this morning to show her the Fort Rock campsite of explorers Lewis & Clark just west of the Union Street underpass.
“I am teaching her about her ancestry,” Mick said.
“My great-great-grandfather Jake Hunt met Lewis and Clark,” he said when the expedition came through in Fall 1805.
“I am a Klickitat Indian from Lyle,” Hunt added, noting his family cemetery is in Husum. “I’ve been in and out of Lone Pine since the ‘60s. I have a fishing platform there.”
