Just fishing around - these pelicans had a great morning below the Lone Pine Subdivision below The Dalles Dam on Sunday morning, June 25.

The birds appear to be doing quite well below the dam feeding on the Columbia’s bounty.

Temperatures are expected to be in the high 80s today and on into early next week and then jump into the 90s. It might be a good time to check the filter for the air conditioner.

No air conditioning? The Columbia definitely has a cooling effect. Sprinklers are a good call. And if you’re really overheated, water your clothes down and get into a vehicle with AC and blast that sucker ‘til your thermometer dips out of the red.

“All the residential is sold,” said Chris Schanno of the Lone Pine subdivision said back on March. 1. “And now we’re selling all the commercial property. It’s pretty exciting. Erik Kerr has been a great partner at Crestline. It’s been a good thing. It’s nice to see that the community wanted a nice neighborhood and it came to fruition. This put some 50 houses on the county tax rolls.
