Westbound traffic on I-84 is still down to one lane. Please drive carefully.

Significant progress in knocking west end of fire down; air resources now returning to base.

1 lane of I-84 westbound is now open; other lane is being used by fire personnel on mop up. Those traveling westbound are advised to use SR-14 to give crews ample space to mop up.

Fire at milepost 76/77 along I-84 westbound in Rowena, OR.

A fire is burning a .5 - 1 mile stretch along I-84 in Rowena. A level 3 “GO NOW” evacuation is in effect along HWY 30 for addresses 5220-6090.

I-84 westbound traffic is at a complete stop between Rowena and The Dalles with over a mile-long traffic pile up. Smoke is blanketing both sides of the freeway and drivers should exercise caution.

Fire crews and planes are working to put out the blaze and keep it to the north side of the road to defend homes in Rowena. Currently, no structures are threatened.

A firefighter with the Mosier Fire Department fills a water tender via a hydrant on West Sixth Street The Dalles near Hattenhauer’s 76 Fuel Stop. He said no structures were currently threatened by the fire at the time and they were attempting to keep the blaze to the north side of Interstate 84 at Milepost 76/77.
