These Gentlemen from Dahle Orchards send a sauld to Teodolinda Tapia as she has officially opened Rio Grande Taqueria in East The Dalles at the former Tijuana Mexican Restaurant, 728 E. Third St., across from Dinty’s.

It took a while to get the doors open as the parking lot and curbs had to be replaced. But at last buen provecho or bon apetite. This feast included mole, Ensalada de poyo, enchiladas verde, adobada tacos and quesabirria. Oh, and a shot of Patron, because, hey, it’s not every day you get to toast a new business.

Riley Adams, 24 of The Dalles contemplates the goings on at the former Montira’s Thai Cuisine before heading out on a cruise on his Yamaha FZ-09. It’s 890 ccs of liquid-cooled cornering. Happy trails Riley, and that curiosity got the best of us as well. So, we wandered by Montira’s to check it out.

A new restaurant is poised to open on June 1st in the former Montira’s Thai Cuisine, 302 W. Second Street, The Dalles, said Ken Sommerfelt today, May 24.

It will be officially called The Dalles Thai Cuisine, and Montira and Ken are going assist the new owner Chanya Kerdmak in getting the restaurant open.

Ken said his wife Montira has been feeling the love since closing the restaurant in February as people at Fred Meyer and friends at Devco Mechanical to name a few have been asking her to fire up her awesome flavors.

The couple plan to assist Chanya with the opening and intend to step away as Chanya learns the business.

Ken and Chanya were busy meeting with distributors on Thursday, and they are putting all the pieces together to be ready for opening day.
