The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 31, 2024 — The Dalles Booster Club and Riverhawk Athletics are thrilled to announce a generous $100,000 donation from Les Schwab Tires to support the replacement of the athletics press box at Wahtonka Field. This substantial contribution propels the project past the halfway

mark toward its $200,000 goal, addressing a long-standing need for a safe and modern media space for Wahtonka Field events.

The original press box, known as the "Crow's Nest," was dismantled in 2022 due to structural and safety concerns stemming from years of wear and age. The new structure, set to be named the "Hawks Nest," will provide an updated and secure location for broadcasting, scoring, and event coordination, enhancing the experience of our Riverhawk athletes and fans.

“This contribution from Les Schwab Tires shows a remarkable commitment to youth sports and community engagement here in The Dalles,” said Anthony Pereira, Booster Club President. “Their generosity ensures that our students and families can continue to enjoy a vibrant sports program with a safe and functional facility.”

The Dalles Booster Club and Riverhawk Athletics extend a heartfelt thank you to Les Schwab Tires for their ongoing support of youth sports in our community. Additional project sponsors include Friends of Football, Sodexo, and Bishop Sanitation.
