The Dalles, Ore., April 4, 2025 — This spring, Columbia Basin Care hosted an engaging art class where residents were encouraged to paint their own portraits in a modern abstract color block style.
This creative activity not only provided a platform for self-expression but also fostered a sense of community among participants, many of whom had never painted in such a style and could be heard giggling about their color choices.
The residents embraced the opportunity, producing vibrant and unique artworks that reflected their individual personalities and artistic flair. Such initiatives underscore Columbia Basin Care’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through diverse and enriching activities.
“It’s so wonderful to watch the residents laugh and explore new techniques using their paint brushes,” said Alesia O’Brien, Activities Director. “During our art classes, you can really see how some residents blossom in their creativity”. The cold winter months of 2025 are being lightened up by more creative offerings, including paint classes in different styles and exploring art history to inform new techniques as well as language classes for residents.
