Serious Car Accident Prompts Life Flight Response, Closes I-84

The Dalles OR, Sept. 14, 2023 -An accident occurred on September, 13th, at approximately 10:47 p.m. on I-84 in The Dalles, OR, near Coastal Farm and Ranch. Police reports indicated that a car crashed into a tree, leaving two individuals injured, prompting a response from emergency services, including Life Flight.

The two occupants of the vehicle were found lying beside it when first responders arrived at the scene. Both individuals sustained injuries, including broken arms and head injuries.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) and emergency medical services (EMS) were quick to respond to the scene. Medics were advised of a major collision with the front end of the car pushed about 4 feet into a tree. It remains uncertain whether the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Life Flight was placed on standby, underscoring the potential seriousness of the injuries. The estimated time of arrival for Life Flight was 11:17 p.m., and it eventually arrived to provide critical assistance to the injured parties.

In response to the accident, I-84 had to be temporarily closed to allow emergency personnel to work on the scene. Deputies also provided assistance with first aid and traffic control during the incident.

The Oregon State Police have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
