Sherman County Sheriff Lohrey will not seek another term after 24 years in office

Sherman County Sheriff Lohrey will not seek another term after 24 years in office

Sherman County Sheriff Brad Lohrey was first elected to office in November 2000.

A letter from Brad Lohrey:

Dear Residents of Sherman County,
It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to you today. After much contemplation and consideration, I have made the decision not to seek re-election as the Sherman County Sheriff in the upcoming 2024 election year.

Reflecting on my law enforcement journey that started in 1992 as a reserve police officer with the Sisters Police Department, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences, challenges, and growth that this role has afforded me. It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve as your Sheriff for over two decades.

Since taking office in 2001, I have witnessed our community evolve, face challenges, and come together in ways that I am extremely proud of. Throughout this journey, I have been humbled by the unwavering support of our citizens, the dedication of our hardworking staff, and the unconditional encouragement from my own family.

I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you, my fellow residents, for entrusting me with the responsibility of maintaining the safety and well-being of our county. It has been an honor to serve alongside the brave men and women who make up our law enforcement and public safety teams. Together, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that Sherman County remains a place of security and community spirit.

I am particularly grateful for the unwavering support of my family during my tenure as Sheriff. My wife, Donna, has been my rock, providing encouragement and understanding throughout the highs and lows
of this journey. My children, Gavenn and Bethany, have shown incredible resilience and patience, standing by my side as I fulfilled my duties to our county. Without their sacrifices and unwavering support, my journey would not have been possible. I love you all with all of my heart.

As I step away from the role of Sheriff, I am filled with optimism for the future of our county. The foundation we have built together will continue to support progress, safety, and unity. I have full confidence in the capabilities of our community and the next generation of leadership that will guide us forward.
Thank you once again for your trust and support. It has been an honor to serve as your Sheriff, and I look forward to witnessing the continued growth and prosperity of Sherman County.

Sincerely,
Brad Lohrey
Sherman County Sheriff
