St. Pat’s at St. Pete’s 2024

St. Pat’s at St. Pete’s 2024

The Dalles Ore. March 5, 2024 — The Dalles Cascade Singers and The-Almost-All-Irish-Almost-All-Brass-Band present the annual St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser at St. Peter’s Landmark. This annual event collects donations to benefit the historic St. Peter’s Landmark located at the corner of Lincoln and 3rd Streets. Following tradition for when St. Patrick’s Day lands on a Sunday, official festivities this year commence on March 17th at 2:00 P.M.

This year’s rollicking concert event will kick off with Rory O'Halloran on the Great Pipes followed by solo and choral music by The Dalles Cascade Singers, harmonium, Irish dance, as well as audience sing-along. Several Irish favorites are on the menu including McNamara’s Band, O Danny Boy, Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra, and others.

Old St. Peter’s Landmark, originally known as St. Peter’s Catholic Church, was built in 1897 and was dedicated on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1898. In 1970, the Monsignor of the Church declared that the church should be torn down and the bricks sold. At the time, a new church was being built. A small band of citizens, concerned that such an exquisite building should be destroyed, formed Old St. Peter’s Landmark Preservation, Inc. By 1971 The building with all its remaining contents was purchased, and Old St. Peter’s Landmark was saved from destruction for everyone to admire and enjoy.

This fundraiser provides a major shot in the arm for St. Peter’s Landmark, so come and show your support for this architectural and musical treasure.
