Sun-Faded Art at The Dalles Roundabout Getting a Refresh

Artwork at the roundabout at Brewery Grade and Second Street in downtown The Dalles will be installed starting on Aug. 31. Drivers are asked to use caution while they go round about.

The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 24, 2026 — The five sun-faded murals at The Dalles roundabout will soon get a refresh, with work scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 31.

Contractors working for The Dalles Art Center will restore the murals at the roundabout where East Second and East Third streets meet Brewery Grade, according to a City of The Dalles news release.

The project will also include new tile work and other features. The improvements are being paid for with grant funding secured by The Dalles Art Center.

No street closures are planned during the project, although drivers should expect workers and traffic caution signs in the area.

A safety zone marked with cones and tape will be established on the roundabout while the work is underway. Pedestrian and sidewalk access will remain open.

Work is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on scheduled workdays and will continue until the project is complete.

The city is asking drivers to use caution through the area and pedestrians to remain outside the designated work zone.

Questions about traffic impacts can be directed to The Dalles Public Works Department at 541-296-5401.
