Suppah to give Native Perspective during the Thanksgiving Season
From Josiah Dean at the Balch Hotel:
The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 15, 2024 — Join the Balch Hotel for a thought-provoking talk with Delson Suppah Sr., a longtime voice in leadership within the Confederated Tribe of Warm Springs. Learn about the history of Thanksgiving as experienced by our local Native communities, the significance of Native American treaties, and the ongoing struggles faced by indigenous communities. This event will expand your understanding of American history, the First People of this land, and their descendants.
The event is set for the Friday following Thanksgiving, November 29 at 7 p.m. at the Balch Hotel, 40 SE Heimrich St., Dufur, OR.
Admission is free but donations for the speaker are encouraged. Delson will speak informally, take questions, and encourage dialogue. Dinner service, along with beer and wine, will be available from the Balch Hotel’s in-house restaurant, Bistro 1907.
“This Thanksgiving season, we can’t think of better company to gather with than our Native neighbors,” said Josiah Dean, owner and Innkeeper at the Balch. “We're grateful to be able to offer Delson the floor, to be heard, connect, and teach us all a thing or two.”
