'Squatter' charged with arson in 18,000-acre blaze near Dufur, at large after failing to show for court
The 51-year-old man accused of starting the Larch Creek Fire near Dufur is currently wanted on an arrest warrant after he failed to show up at Wasco County Circuit Court on Monday, Sept. 16.
Resident Admits to Setting Fire at Her Own Residence in The Dalles
In the early morning on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2024, local authorities received a call from Amy Cardoza. The 56-year-old reported setting a residence on fire at 109 E. 7th St. with a lighter in the kitchen of a duplex at approximately 3:36 a.m.Cardoza admitted to the 911 dispatcher that she used a lighter to ignite the blaze, according to The Dalles Police log. She also said the house was used as a methamphetamine production site and that is what motivated her to light it up.

Man jailed on charge of arson after fire breaks out on West Sixth Street
A 66-year-old male is in jail accused of arson after police were called out on a disturbance and the place he was living caught fire some three hours later. Oregon State Police Arson investigators are sifting through the scene for evidence.
