Election Day: Will TD stay old school?
It’s election day. And the fate of a new high school in The Dalles hangs in the balance. Voters are being asked to approve a 30-year, $140 million bond to construct a new high school on the southeast corner of the Wahtonka High School Campus. If the measure gets a majority, the new high school could open as soon as 2027. It would replace the current high school which is in its 82nd year.

The Vote Yes TDHS team that is supporting the upcoming $140-million school bond to build a new high school in The Dalles has been listening to questions from the public. In response they have put together some fairly specific information about the bond, what it will pay for, including athletic fields, maintenance on the current high school building, and, of course, the cost of the new high school. Supporters of a new high school in The Dalles are hoping the time is right for a simpler bond that focuses solely on building a new campus on the district-owned fields of the Wahtonka grounds at the ballot box on Nov. 7. There are just 72 days left until election day.
It's Official; bond for new TDHS will be on November ballot
Notice is hereby given that a ballot title for a measure referred by the NORTH WASCO COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT #21 has been filed with the Elections Office of Wasco County, Oregon on August 7, 2023. The measure will be presented to the qualified voters of the district at the Special Election held on November 7, 2023. The election will be conducted by mail pursuant to ORS 254.465.
TD High School Bond polling kicks off this week
D21 Chief Financial Officer Kara Flath has been working collaboratively with the Wasco County Tax Assessor’s office over the last several months to ensure estimated tax numbers related to the potential bond coincide with the most recent tax assessments. These numbers will help the district better understand, and subsequently respond, to concerns regarding the bond cost when it comes to individual impacts.
D21 seeks members for Bond Planning for capital improvements projects
Collectively, this group will meet to discuss issues and needs such as safety, security, accessibility, capacity and overall facility needs to help identify and prioritize capital improvement projects.
$4 Million Maupin School bond winning approval
The South Wasco County School District‘s $4-milliion school bond had 55.3 percent approval in unofficial returns released tonight, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. The bond had gained 707 votes in favor while 571 voted against it.
