A freak snowstorm hitting Oregon brought inches of fluff to higher elevations in the Columbia River Gorge while prompting school closures, downing some power and capping cherry blossoms with ice, this morning, April 11th.

The 2020 crop year is one to be celebrated by the 37,200 farms and ranches that make up Oregon’s diverse agricultural community. Oregon is home to more than 225 commodities, everything from cattle to cherries to hazelnuts and wheat. And Production was great in 2020, according to the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

The incessant thud hitting the bottom of plastic bins like a thumb on a coffee can. Ladders, three-legged, move about in rapid succession, and hands walk through leaves like spiders. Cherry Season is on.

Homeowners and orchardists are required to spray cherry trees with insecticide within 10 days.
