Sarah Crook proposed extending this service with the introduction of the Gorge Pass, which would allow students to travel for free throughout the entire Gorge region, including to Portland and Vancouver. 

Joel Vaught was sworn in as the new Zone 5 Board member for the North Wasco County School District on August 24th after the School Board interviewed six different applicants.

The North Wasco County School Board is currently accepting applications for the vaccant zone 5 school board position. 

D21 is offering a host of different programs to enhance summer activities and provide opportunities for local students to catch up on credits and improve academic skills.

Collectively, this group will meet to discuss issues and needs such as safety, security, accessibility, capacity and overall facility needs to help identify and prioritize capital improvement projects.

For a decade local volunteers have been reaching out to D21 students with offerings of food to help them during the weekend and better prepare them for school come Monday morning. After careful consideration, North Wasco County School District will be moving to make masks optional for students and staff in our school buildings and district properties on March 14th.

Board member Brian Stevens made the motion to select Lopez after noting all of the candidates were well qualified and committed to the community. He also added that Lopez, who resides in Mosier, “checked the box” for representing the people of Zone 1 as Mosier is the densest area of the population in that zone.

As a part of the strategic planning process, the North Wasco County School District has partnered with Public Consulting Group to facilitate focus groups with community members to gather input. North Wasco County School District 21 is pleased to announce the selection of Kimberly Cutting Tyskiewicz as the new Director of Educational Success and Innovative Programming with the district. Her hiring comes at a crucial time as the need for innovative programs has grown as a greater number of students are in need of well-suited educational paths that fall outside of the traditional classroom.

North Wasco County School Board is set to accept a resignation from one of its board members at its regular meeting scheduled for Jan. 20. The board will also hear from student representatives from each school. Sophia Lewis, Rokiah Notbohm, Cesar Alvarez, Hannah Pewitt, Eleanor Young, Omar Mercado Chavarria and Cadence LeAnn Scott are set to speak.

North Wasco County School District just announced it will be closed Tuesday, January 4th, 2022

Students across The Dalles returned to almost regular School today, Monday, Aug. 30 as classes are meeting in full and teachers and staff are now instructing in person. It has been about 18 months since this has been possible, due to the pandemic.

First Annual Golden Apple Awards bestowed on D21 staff and volunteers along with $500. Recipients were nominated by colleagues, family and friends. Judges had a lot to read as 52 nominations were made this year. Check out the winners here.
