QLife is pushing the boundaries of rural broadband by seeking $10.4 million in federal funding, a bid to transform Wasco County’s connectivity with fiberoptic infrastructure that leaders say rivals the impact of rural electrification.

“Adding a lane for foot and bike traffic will create a much safer experience not only for PCT travelers but for all the people who live and play in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area,” said Mark Larabee, Advocacy Director for the Pacific Crest Trail Association.

A recent block grant of $7.3 million will help fund Washington State’s 30 Community Action Agencies - including the Washington Gorge Action Program serving Klickitat and Skamania counties - to stabilize and equip families and individuals to exit poverty for good through a network of local organizations.
