History on the Wall, Fun in the Walk: TD’s Murals Just a Step Away
Earlier this month, Tom Peterson posted what the Walldogs are up to now. It’s titled “Little Art City Strikes Again with Umatilla House Restoration.” Simultaneously I was organizing a dozen friends to do a walking tour of murals in the east end of The Dalles. A moment of synchronicity.
Whispers of the past roar like silent falls
Oral histories tumble, fall and swirl as local seventh-graders look into the region’s past with an epic mural walk through downtown The Dalles. The silent undercurrent of triumph, change, turbulence, washed by like the wind, blowing time down 2nd, 3rd and 4th streets.
Walldogs' first mural going up at TD's Oregon Motor Motel
Brad Johnson, Justin Riede and Pete McKearnan, above, are burning the midnight oil tonight, Oct. 15 as they paint a rodeo queen at the Oregon Motor Motel at 200 E. Second Street, The Dalles.
