In response to the growing needs faced by local families, the The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with The Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul, has launched a community-wide collection drive to provide food, clothing, and toys for families in need this holiday season.

The Salvation Army is ready to serve wildfire evacuees and/or firefighters of The Rowena Fire in The Dalles as needed

A tidal wave of contributions for The Salvation Army has poured in during the past 24 hours, according to multiple officials and business leaders.

“What a great community we have,” said Chris Zukin who sits on the advisory board for The Salvation Army.

Days of hard work and organization came to fruition in the form of succulent turkey, stuffing and mash potatoes drenched in gravy. It is the best time of the year, my friends. And our hats here at CCC News are off to those that make it so!

The Dalles Community Thanksgiving Meal aims to feed some 700 on Thursday as volunteers are prepping, stirring and cooking for the big day. The annual feed will be different this year with the community meal being replaced with take-out and home delivery. Volunteers are still needed.
