In the past 48 hours, the fire has continued to remain in its current footprint. The fire perimeter is completely lined. The total number of people working the fire has increased from 360 to 472 and containment of the fire is at 30 percent. Read more here.
Cooler temperatures and higher humidity allowed firefighters to strengthen the containment lines around the S-503 Fire last night on Warm Springs Reservation. Crews have bulked up to a total of 360, and containment of the blaze has doubled in the last day.
The S-503 Fire continues to burn in timber and grasses on the Confederated Tribe of the Warm Springs Reservation and privately owned in-holdings protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry. Initial attack activity is expected to increase as lightning activity moves through the area.
“Some of the pipes are made of wood and clay. We regularly face “low pressure” or “no water” events that trigger boil-water notices," testified Raymon Tsumpti Chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. His comments came after the passage of a federal act to improve water quality and services for tribal communities in Oregon and nationwide. Read more here.
