Fifth Grade Dry Hollow Elementary Teacher Wesley Mitchell was named Region 2 Teacher of the Year for 2023. Here he is seen receiving the award last fall during a surprise greeting from Karen Caulfield an accountant with the Oregon Lottery and an entourage of local teachers. Now is the time to nominate your teacher for 2024. Find out how below.

The Dalles, Ore., Jan 22, 2024 — The Oregon Department of Education, in partnership with the Oregon Lottery, is pleased to announce the continuation of Oregon Regional Teacher of the Year to honor exemplary educators in every region of the state.

“Last year Wesley Mitchell won for our region, “ said Teacher Mentor Hailey Elliott with Columbia Gorge Education Service District. “The nomination process takes minutes but truly shouts from the rooftops to each teacher that receives a nomination that they are appreciated.”

Last year there were around 30 nominations across all of North Wasco, South Wasco, Dufur, Moiser, and Hood River.

• Teachers will submit their applications by April 5, 2024.

• Oregon Education Service Districts will select a winner from their region. • Regional Teachers of the Year will be honored across the state in September 2024!
