TD Man indicted on charges of sex abuse against minor

The Dalles, Ore., – March 13, 2025 — A Wasco County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Ezekial Laclaire of The Dalles alleging three felony counts: Rape in the Second Degree, Sodomy in the Second Degree, and Sex Abuse in the First Degree, according to a press release from the Wasco County District Attorney.

Second-Degree Rape and first-degree sex abuse charges are both Measure 11 crimes with mandatory sentences of 75 months in prison, according to Oregon law.

All three charges involve a single 13-year-old victim, and the alleged offenses occurred on March 5, 2025. The victim was known to the defendant.

Mr. Laclaire is currently being held in the Umatilla County Jail on $100,000 bail. These charges carry mandatory minimum sentencing provisions under Oregon’s Ballot Measure 11.

The investigation in this case was led by the City of The Dalles Police Department, and Detective Samuel Perez is the lead detective. The District Attorney’s Office extends its gratitude to SafeSpace in Hood River for their crucial assistance in conducting the forensic interview of the child victim.
