TD Police Officer Jeff Kienlen Terminated Following DA Investigation
The City of The Dalles announced the decision to terminate Jeff Kienlen’s employment with the City of The Dalles Police Department in a press release today. “As of March 5, 2021, Officer Kienlen’s employment with the City of The Dalles Police Department has been terminated given his inability to perform the essential duties of a police officer,” said the City of The Dalles press release.
The decision comes three days after Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis notified the Police Department that Officer Jeff Kienlen had been added to their office's Tier 1 Brady list on March 2, 2021. Effectively barring the officer from testifying on any case prosecuted by the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office. Kienlen’s inclusion on the list was a result of intentional and malicious deceptive conduct which was uncovered in an investigation and 10-year case review undertaken by the DA’s office.
“As public officials, the public's trust is imperative and we understand the importance of transparency and accountability. We look forward to continuing to provide excellent service to the public,” said the City of The Dalles press release.
