TD Public Library Celebrates Latinx Heritage Month with Book Box Raffle and Print Making

The Dalles Wasco County Public Library is raffling off Book Boxes for Latinx* Heritage month.

Each book boxes contains a book by a Latinx author, and other little goodies. There are three raffle categories, books for elementary school aged children, books for teens, and books for adults. The raffle will send six lucky elementary aged kids, six teens, and six adults, home with new books! To enter follow the link.

Air quality depending, the library will also be giving out Frida Kahlo Print Making Kits tomorrow (those registered for the event will receive notification when the kits are ready for pick up.) The purpose of the kit is to give recipients a chance to learn about Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, as they create a portrait of the artist using printmaking techniques. This kit includes a foam sheet, engraving tool, cardstock paper, and a set of acrylic paints.

Due to limited supplies, all printmaking kits have been claimed. But if you’ve got your own supplies or don’t mind doing a bit of winging it you can still participate! Anyone can watch the video tutorial will be available on The Dalles Public Library’s YouTube and Facebook page on September 16th, 2020.
