TDHS Basketball Loses a Close Road Game Against 6A Century

TDHS Basketball Loses a Close Road Game Against 6A Century

By Xavier Orion Olaez

The Dalles high school boys basketball team played in a non league away game Tuesday, Dec 28th against 6A Century Jaguars in what was a close game.

The Hawks battled all game but would eventually lose 60-52.

The Hawks came into this game without two of their starters in Styles Deleon and Tristan Bass, so they were short-handed but still played well.

The first quarter was neck and neck. Both teams doing well on both sides and trading baskets. At the end of the first quarter it was knotted at 13.

The second quarter was a different story. The Hawks struggled to score, and their defense was about the same, holding Century to 12 points but only scoring 6. They went into halftime down 25-19.

The Hawks came out of halftime with a spark. Their offense was dropping buckets all over the place. Yet Century seemed to always have an answer, keeping up with the Hawks. The Hawks scored 22 in the third while Century scored 20. So the lead Century built in the first half was only cut down to 4 points.

The Hawks were hoping to take over in the fourth but couldn’t. They only scored 11 while Century scored 15. The Hawks lost 60-52. The Dalles had a lot of foul trouble this game, and that’s something they’re working on.

Senior Jaxon Pullen led the team in scoring with 17 points.

The Hawks play at home next on Dec. 30th against the Liberty Falcons at 7 P.M.
