The Dalles High School Bond Election Participation Surges to 22.36% - Friday Update

The Dalles, October 27, 2023 - As the clock ticks closer to the final decision day for the North Wasco County School District's bond measure, voter turnout remains robust, surpassing even the turnout at this point during the 2022 General Election.

On October 25th, Chief Deputy County Clerk Chrissy Zaugg reported that they had received 2,447 ballots back from the 14,629 eligible voters, amounting to a 16.69% participation rate. However, just two days later, the numbers have surged.

Today, on October 27, 2023, the latest figures show that a total of 3,271 ballots have been returned, representing an impressive 22.36% participation rate. This surge in voter engagement showcases the community's commitment to having their voices heard regarding the decision to build a new high school.

In comparison, during the 2022 General Election, at this same time frame, the turnout was at 15.8%.

As we approach election day, it remains to be seen how the final numbers will shape up, but one thing is clear: the community is actively engaged in this critical decision-making process, with voter turnout continuing to outpace expectations.

Stay tuned for more updates as we draw closer to the final verdict on whether the new high school will become a reality for North Wasco County.
