Ridgeview Outshoots, Outscores TD Varsity Boys Soccer Team 6-1 In Tough Game
By Xavier Orion-Olaez
The Dalles Riverhawks varsity boys soccer team played the Ridgeview Ravens on Thursday, March 25th at 4:30 p.m.
And it was a tough game for them. They played some physical defense but it wasn’t enough to stop the Ravens.
The game started with a Riverhawk foul at the 36:43 mark that gave Ridgeview a free kick but great defense by The Dalles stopped them from scoring.
Ridgeview came right back and scored at the 32-minute mark.
The Riverhawks got the ball back, and after a missed opportunity, the Ravens capitalized and scored another goal at the 28-minute mark.
For the rest of the first half, the Riverhawk’s physicality showed and held the opposing team around midfield until the 6-minute mark when Ridgeview caught a break and scored. The last 6 minutes of the half were slow and no one scored.
Throughout the game, The Dalles had a lot of opportunities to put the ball in the net. They were fouled quite a bit and had a lot of free kicks but just couldn't hit on any of them. Their offense was quick, but Ridgeview’s defense was quicker and could keep up with the Riverhawks whenever they had the ball.
The second half started off well for The Dalles getting a shot in but missing. Ridgeview came back and got fouled leaving them with a free kick at 34:14. But great defense was again played by the Riverhawks. Their defense then showed up again for another 15 minutes until Ridgeview scored a phenomenal goal at the 20-minute mark.
The Dalles didn’t let them get an opportunity to score again and came back with a goal of their own at the 5-minute mark. The Dalles seemed to take their foot off the gas, though, and Ridgeview scored again at the 3-minute mark. The rest of the game was slow and ended with Ridgeview winning 6-1. The Dalles shot the ball 7 times, and Ridgeview shot it 9 times.
With that loss, The Dalles record is now 3-3. Their next game is away on Tuesday, March 30th, against Redmond High School at 4:30 p.m.
