The Madness is deafening: Bargeway Winners headed to Hawks Nest on Sunday
By Tom Peterson
Heather Widmer of Hood River and Arturo Sanchez of The Dalles are getting jacked up!
They will enter the ear-splitting energy that is the 12th man on Sunday, Oct. 22 to join 67,000 others who will blow their vocal chords cheering on the Seattle Seahawks as they test their mettle against the Arizona Cardinals.
Watch out for that Tailgate!
Heather and Arturo won the NFL tickets to the Hawk’s Nest through the Bargeway Pub’s raffle on Tuesday.
“I am a huge Seahawks fan,” Heather said while working at Papa Murphys on Thursday, Oct. 19. “I’ve never sat in the Hawk’s Nest. I can’t wait.”
The Hawk’s Nest is the craziest section at Lumen Field in Seattle. It sits above the north end zone, and it is blistering loud.
How loud?
Fans at a Seattle Seahawks game broke the Guinness World Record for loudest crowd roar at an outdoor stadium with 137.6 decibels. Just to give you a sense of scale, that is as loud as a jet engine at 100 feet.
And it is ripe for a little air time during the game.
Will you hold of a sign that says The Dalles so we can see you on TV, we asked Arturo.
“I will see what I can do,” he said with a laugh.
Arturo and Heather both won two tickets each, said Steve Kane of the Bargeway, doubling the fun. So the two are bringing their partners.
Arturo, 34, is taking Esperanza Flores, and Heather, 35, is bringing Devin Dallas.
“We are going to make a weekend of it,” Heather said. “We leave on Saturday and come back on Monday.”
The couples said they planned on meeting up at Cowgirls Saloon on First Street in Seattle to prefunk.
Heather said she entered the raffle on Sunday while watching a Seahawks game and enjoyed a bacon turkey wrap at the Bargeway after her brother and his girlfriend talked her into going.
“I was not expecting to hear from him - Steve Kane - and I got the phone call and won. I called my brother and rubbed it in,” Heather said.
The Seahawks are headed into Sunday with a 3-2 record with Gino Smith hucking the ball. They are coming off a loss to the Bengals on Oct. 15.
“The last game sucked, but overall they are doing pretty good,” Arturo said.
Heather said she was betting on wide receiver DK Metcalf and running back Kenneth Walker lll to have breakout games.
Will they go all the way this year? Superbowl?
“I sure hope so,” Heather said. “It was looking good until last weekend. But, you never know. Anything can happen.”
Just like at the Bargeway Pub - where they have yet another raffle for tickets to see the Seahawks play the Washington Commanders on Nov. 12th - the drawing for the tickets will be on Nov. 7th.
Steve Kane said to come on into the pub on Sundays or Mondays and join the Bargway Bucks loyalty program between now and November 7th and order one meal to enter.
“You can watch football with us on Sundays on the big screen, starting at 10 a.m. We'll be watching all the games at the same time with NFL ticket,” Kane said on the Bargeway website.
