The Dalles, Ore., Aug 3, 2025 — The Dalles Public Library is going all in for the final stretch of summer reading with a week packed full of high-energy events. From a Pokémon scavenger hunt and movie day to science festivals, dance performances, and hands-on art projects, this is your chance to level up your summer. Whether you're battling in Smash Bros., dissecting owl pellets, or learning to make clay earrings, there's something for all ages to enjoy.
Level Up! Pokémon Scavenger Hunt
Aug. 4–9, All Day
All ages can participate in this Pokémon-themed scavenger hunt throughout the library as part of the “Level Up at the Library” summer reading celebration.
Dragon Wreath Craft
Monday, Aug. 4, 5:30–8:30 p.m., Meeting Room
Families and individuals can create a fiery dragon-themed wreath. One wreath per household. Registration is closed.
OMSI Science Festival
Tuesday, Aug. 5, 10:30–11:30 a.m., Main Library
Explore hands-on science stations hosted by OMSI. Fun for kids and mind-bending for grownups—this is a must-attend event for all curious minds.
Teen & Adult Art Club: Polymer Clay Jewelry
Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1–4 p.m., Meeting Room
Teens and adults are invited to make polymer clay pendants and earrings while connecting with fellow artists.
Owl Pellet Dissection Kit Pickup
Wednesday, Aug. 6, All Day
Pick up a free educational kit to explore the anatomy and diet of owls. Kits are limited and available first-come, first-served.
Music & Magic in the Park: Paradise of Samoa
Wednesday, Aug. 6, 6–7 p.m., City Park
Enjoy a vibrant outdoor performance by the Paradise of Samoa Dance Troupe. Bring a picnic and be ready to move!
Bioblitz Lecture Series: Shrub-Steppe Ecosystem
Friday, Aug. 8, 4–5:30 p.m., Main Library
Join a local expert for a deep dive into Eastern Oregon’s unique shrub-steppe ecosystem. Part of the ongoing Bioblitz series.
Pokémon Day!
Saturday, Aug. 9, 1–3 p.m., All Library Spaces
A full afternoon of Pokémon fun:

Pokémon Movie Day at the Granada: Pokémon Heroes
Saturday, Aug. 9, 4–6 p.m., Granada Theatre (Offsite)
End the week with a free community screening of Pokémon Heroes. Concessions available for purchase.
