The Dalles, Ore., June 14, 2026 — The Dalles Public Library has a full schedule of programs planned June 15-20, including food preservation, children’s activities, crafts, gaming, a summer reading kickoff and Father’s Day events.
Learn to Preserve: Strawberries
2 to 5 p.m. Monday, June 15, Meeting Room
Teens and adults can learn beginner-friendly methods for preserving strawberries, including water bath canning, dehydrating and freezing. Registration is required.
Maker Monday
5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 15, Makerspace
School-age children, teens and adults are invited for arts, crafts and STEAM activities.
Little Learners Lab: Kids in STEAM
11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, Children’s Wing
Toddlers and preschoolers can take part in hands-on STEAM activities designed to build curiosity, creativity and confidence. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Crazy Craft Club: Hydrodrip Printmaking
4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, Makerspace
Children ages 8 to 12 can join the club for big, colorful and messy craft projects. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Pokémon GO! Club
4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, The Dalles Public Library
Pokémon fans will meet in front of the library at 4 p.m. and leave for a downtown walk at 4:10 p.m. Participants will complete challenges, hatch eggs, follow routes and battle raid bosses. Registration and a signed waiver are required. Participants 11 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Movie Matinee
4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, Meeting Room
The library will host its monthly family-friendly movie matinee. Snacks will be provided. The June feature is an animated film about a young woman who transfers her mind into a beaver-shaped robot to communicate with wild beavers.
Virtual Author Talk: Ted Page
11 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 18
Adults can join a virtual conversation with Ted Page, author of “Good Grandpa: Stories from the Heart of Grandfatherhood.” Registration is required for the virtual event.
Plant a Seed, Read! Summer Reading Kickoff Party
4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, Lower Parking Lot
The library will launch Summer Reading 2026 with a party for children and families featuring snow cones, bounce houses, games, crafts, giveaways, face painting, balloons and live performers.
Closed for Juneteenth
All day Friday, June 19
The Dalles Public Library will be closed in observance of Juneteenth.
Lacing Communities Together Take-and-Make Kit
All day Saturday, June 20, through Friday, July 3
Adults can pick up a take-and-make kit connected to the Columbia Gorge Museum’s Lacing Communities Together project. Kits include supplies and patterns to create lace triangles for the community art project.
Pancakes with Pops
10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, June 20, Meeting Room
Families can celebrate Father’s Day a day early with pancakes and a flapjack treasure hunt. Registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Embroidery with Steph Evans
10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20, Makerspace
Teens and adults can take part in an embroidery class with Steph Evans. Registration is required. The event is open to participants age 11 and older.
VR Gaming
2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, Teen Room
Teens can try gaming on the library’s Meta Quest 2 during the library’s first- and third-Saturday VR gaming program.
Open Makerspace
2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, Makerspace
Teens and adults can use the Makerspace for arts, crafts and STEAM projects.
