The Dalles, Ore., May 10, 2026 — The Dalles Public Library has a full slate of May programs for children, teens, adults, and families, including crafts, book clubs, STEAM activities, performances, and virtual author events.
May 11
Maker Monday: Craft and STEM catalogue, 5:30 p.m., The Dalles Public Library. Participants may browse the library’s catalogue of crafts and STEM projects, pick a project, gather supplies and start creating. The program is open to school-age children with an adult, teens and adults.
May 12
Virtual: How to Robot-Proof Your Kids — and Yourself, 11 a.m. to noon. Adults are invited to a virtual conversation with Dr. Vivienne Ming about artificial intelligence, humanity and her new book, “Robot-Proof: When Machines Have All the Answers, Build Better People.” Registration is required.
Little Learners Lab: Kids in STEAM, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Children’s Wing. Toddlers and preschoolers can take part in hands-on, play-based STEAM activities designed to build curiosity, creativity and confidence. Children must attend with an accompanying adult.
Inspired Reads: “Joni: An Unforgettable Story,” 6 to 7 p.m., The Dalles Public Library. Teens and adults are invited to a welcoming book club focused on meaningful, uplifting and thoughtful reads.
May 13
Hobbity Seasonal Wreath — Summer, 1 to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Meeting Room. Teens and adults can create a summer wreath with or without a hobbit door. Tickets will be available at the front desk beginning at 12:30 p.m. and will be distributed first come, first-served basis.
May 14
Colonel Wright Marimba Team, 10:15 to 11 a.m., Main Library. The Colonel Wright Marimba Performance Team will perform a morning marimba program for all ages.

Money Moves: A Financial Literacy Workshop for Teens, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Teen Room. Teens can learn practical money skills, including budgeting, saving, spending, buying a first car, paying for college or trade school, living independently and building a spending plan.
Gorge Academy: Beautiful You, 3:30 to 5 p.m., off-site. Teens and adults ages 14 and older can learn about skin care, makeup, lashes and eyebrows through hands-on stations led by experienced cosmetologists. Registration is required and space is limited.
Family STEAM Night: Bug Bonanza, 6 to 7 p.m., Main Library. Families can learn about insects, build bugs from craft supplies, look at butterfly wings under a microscope, and meet live creepy-crawlies. Children must attend with an accompanying adult.

Fun Fridays: Board Game Night, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Children’s Wing. Elementary-age children are invited for board games and other fun activities. The program is intended for ages 5 to 10, but all are welcome.
Fun Fridays for Teens: Decorate Altoid Boxes, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Teen Room. Teens can decorate Altoid boxes using library craft supplies.

May 16
Family Friendly Entertainment: en Taiko Drummers, 1 to 2 p.m., Main Library. The library will host en Taiko Drummers, a youth drumming group from the Portland area. The program is open to all ages. Children must attend with an accompanying adult.
VR Gaming, 2 to 3 p.m., Teen Room. Teens can try virtual reality gaming with library-provided headsets. Space is limited and available first come, first served.
Paint Night for Kids, 2:30 to 4 p.m., Meeting Room. Children in first through fifth grades can take part in a painting activity. Tickets will be available at the front desk beginning at 2 p.m. and will be distributed first come, first served. Parents are asked to remain in the library during the program.
