Toyota, Salvation Army Hosts Food Box Give Away to Alleviate Hunger
On March 24th, Columbia Gorge Toyota and the Salvation Army partnered on a food box give away to help combat hunger for families in need. Rachel Carter, Marketing Coordinator for Columbia Gorge Toyota and Kris Harmon, Business Manager for Salvation Army handed out nearly 30 donated food boxes to families in need on Thursday, March 24th.
Food boxes included rice, beans, macaroni and cheese boxes, spaghetti, canned peaches, boxed milk, chunk chicken and more.
“We recognize that food insecurity is a big issue in our town and we’re more than happy to do our part to help alleviate that in any way we can,” said Carter.
Harmon added that the Salvation Army food bank was still seeing an increased need for food access from the community.
“There’s still an increased need.” said Harmon “Even though in some ways it feels like we’re post-pandemic, we’re not at pre-pandemic levels of need for food. Things have shifted, in the last few years and there’s increased need amongst the working poor.”
“And the cost of food just keeps going up.” added Carter.
“We want to support our community. That’s what we’re all about.” said Carter in closing.
If you, or someone you know could use a little assistance, please stop by Columbia Gorge Toyota to pick up a food box. There are 50 available on a first come basis.
