Trent Beaver was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Trent developed his authentic sound from many genres of music. His talents range from "southern rock" to 'soul" while embracing his spiritual foundation.

The long-awaited return of 3 Leg Torso to Old St. Peters Landmark Church in The Dalles is on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. “3 Leg Torso formed in 1996 as a violin, cello and accordion trio with the mission of creating original modern chamber music for their unique instrumentation. Over the following years, the ensemble has expanded both its musical mission and its size to become a quartet that now performs original compositions based on an eclectic synthesis of chamber music, Tango, Klezmer, Latin, and Roma (Gypsy) music. As principal composers, founding members Béla R. Balogh (violin, trumpet, octave mandolin) and Courtney Von Drehle (accordion, saxophone) provide the core of 3 Leg Torso's sound. Voci Community Choir “Open House” for New Singers
Do you love to sing, but have nowhere to share your talents except for the shower and karaoke night? Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association’s Voci Community Choir invites you to a very special Open House event on Monday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room of Hood River Valley High School, 1220 Indian Creek Rd, Hood River.
About the Event
The Voci Community Choir was founded in 2006 and consists of 40-60
non-auditioned singers. The emphasis in rehearsal is on fun, fellowship, music and vocal education and experiencing the power and joy of great choral music. The choir is led by Dan Kenealy, who takes over from Corin Parker. Dan has been the choral and instrumental director at Hood River Valley HS since 2015, when long-time director (and Voci founder) Mark Steighner retired. Dan’s HRVHS Chamber Singers have participated in the Oregon State Choir Contest nearly every year. The Open House will focus on fun and familiar songs. ‘Graveyard Book’ featured for Community Read
The Community Read featuring “The Graveyard Book” is intended to be a shared reading experience with loads of activities throughout the month of October at The Dalles Wasco County Library. Designed for all ages, the event starts on Monday, Oct. 2, offering patrons free copies of the book – while supplies last. There will be arts and craft workshops, spooky snacks, games, a haunted graveyard walk, ghost tours and special performers. On Saturday, Oct. 28, the library will host a ‘big’ event – A Day in the Graveyard from 1-4 p.m. - later that evening a discussion of the book will take place in the Pioneer Cemetery.

Timewinder Tales at History Museum of Hood River County
Much like the previous successful productions of Cemetery Tales, Timewinder Tales 2023 will delve into stories and historic characters from Hood River’s colorful history. The live events happen at the History Museum of Hood River County on Sept. 22-23 and 29-30 at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.
Viewers will experience the past through a live theatrical performance and local actors will share fascinating details of their lives in the first-person. Centering on the theme of built environments, Timewinder storytellers and personalities will include Galen Yallup, an elder of the Yakama tribe, Elsie “Babe” Tenney, Mona Bell Hill, and Albert Sutton.

It’s a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with the traditional musical styles of Locarno, at The Dalles Civic Auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Locarno is an eight-piece band that fuses elements of traditional musical styles — folk, Cuban, Cumbia, Jarocho, Salsa, Joropo, some marimba tunes from Chiapas, Mexico — with contemporary sounds, such as pop and funk.
About the Artist
Locarno is the Latin project of JUNO Award winning musician, Tom Landa. Like him, the music is equal parts Mexican and Canadian. Tom was born and raised in Mexico City, and moved to Canada in his teens. In the mid nineties he formed the Folk Roots band, The Paperboys, who have been touring world-wide for over 20 years. Tom has always dabbled in Latin music, and in 2005 decided to immerse himself more into the genre, and started working on material for an album. In 2006 he was awarded a Canada Council Grant to study traditional Mexican Music in Veracruz, Mexico. Tom spent his days learning the jarana (an 8 string guitar), and learning songs from the Son Jarocho repertoire. Upon his return to Canada, Tom started working on what would be Locarno’s debut CD.
Since then the band has honed in on their sound and incorporated more of their influences such as music from Columbia, African Sukous, Mexican Marimba Music, Venezuelan Joropo and Brazilian Forro Music. Perhaps where the band shines the most is in the live shows which features Tom Landa on jaranas and guitars, Kalissa Landa on violin, Robin Layne on marimba, congas and timbales, Pedro Mota on guitar and vocals, Aaron McKinney on bass, Liam MacDonald on drums, congas and pandero, Jocelyn Waugh on trumpet and Nick La Riviere on trombone. Free Summer Concert Series at Balch Hotel
The Balch Hotel in Dufur is hosting a series of six outdoor concerts this summer on its scenic, mountain-view grounds. Expect to hear the sounds of Delta blues, melodic folk, and rootsy Americana July through September. There is no cover charge for guests dining or staying at the hotel, though the hoteliers will collect optional pay-what-you-will donations to support the series and musicians. Shows are 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Bring your own chairs and blankets.
