Two wanted for Elk poaching on private Property in South Wasco County

WASCO COUNTY, Ore., Sept. 16, 2025 — Oregon State Police are asking for the public’s help to identify two people caught on camera trespassing on private property near Antelope and unlawfully killing an elk.

According to investigators, a trail camera captured a cow elk alive at 4:42 a.m. on Sept. 6 — before legal hunting hours. Just three minutes later, the same camera recorded two unknown individuals standing over the carcass. Police say the pair had entered the land in a vehicle, gutted the elk and left.

The suspect vehicle is described as a light-colored 2001–2004 Nissan Frontier with an older canopy and roof rack. A reward of $1,000 or four preference points is being offered for information that leads to identification and citation, or arrest, of those responsible.
