U of O Prof. to speak on Barlow Cutoff and other early roads on Sept. 21 in The Dalles

History buffs, mark your calendars.

Dr. Tom Connolly

Director Emeritus of Archeological Research for the University of Oregon’s Museum of Natural and Cultural History, Tom Connolly, will speak about the Barlow Road and other early roads in our area at St. Paul’s Chapel on Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.

The Chapel is at 601 Union Street, The Dalles.

The Barlow Road became the first highway in Oregon west of The Cascades, as well as helping to make Mount Hood the region’s first automobile-accessible mountain area. Today, the original trail and some offshoots are still visible to travelers providing a view of living history that is still discernible within the Mt. Hood.

All are welcome to attend this free presentation… and donations are welcomed. Refreshments will be provided in the adjacent Remington Hall following the event.
